About Brian Miller, MA, LPCC

My journey in the helping professions arose not long after graduating college in 1987 when, while working for a Fortune 500 corporation, I realized that for my livelihood to have meaning it needed to revolve around helping others. I proceeded to become a massage therapist and massage therapy instructor in the state of New Mexico. While I was able to help people physically, I did not have much effect on people’s way of understanding their lives and their long term happiness. This led to an interest in the internal world of the psyche and into psychotherapy.

I received his Bachelor’s degree in 1987 from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Business and Economics. I also attended Southwestern College in Santa Fe with the intent to learn the psychological and spiritual aspects of integration and healing and graduated in 2008 with a Master’s Degree in Counseling.

I am licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by the state of New Mexico and am certified by the New Mexico Council on Problem Gambling as a Certified Problem Gambling Counselor. In addition I have advanced training in Somatic Transformation (a body-based approach to the treatment of trauma), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), in Psychodrama, as well as training in the treatment of Trichotillomania (compulsive hair pulling) and Dermatillomania (compulsive skin picking).

I have also been a Licensed Massage Therapist and Registered Massage Therapy Instructor in the state of New Mexico.
